 presentation
The Ensemble Creativo dell'Emilia Romagna (ex Orchestra Creativa dell'Emilia-Romagna)
is a project created in 2021 with the aim of inviting international musicians to direct it,
encouraged to write and organize original music specially designed for the ensemble.
It's an ensemble made up of musicians active internationally, coming
from different parts of Italy and resident in the region Emilia-Romagna and which produces
an original repertoire.
As in several orchestras of this type, there will be a rotation of musical direction every
3 years to have different perspectives in the field of
creative music, improvised and
avant-garde music.
Fabrizio Puglisi was the musical director in 2021-2023, while Tobia Bondesan - who already
collaborated with Akamu as musical director and arrangements of the jazz opera
Windward Passages by pianist and composer Dave Burrell and libretto by swedish poet Monika Larsson -
is the new director for 2024-2026 radically changing the direction, the musicians involved,
the aims, which are to bring out the different communities of musicians living in the Region.
Despite the development and experimentation of new languages, the Ensemble Creativo
dell'Emilia-Romagna cannot ignore the encounter with other non-Western cultures, not to pursue
an unlikely undifferentiated melting-pot but to create moments and contexts of
meeting and exchange that respect differences and peculiar specificities.

special guests such Robin Holcomb,
Steph Richards,
